The NASA FL regional sprint race series is offered as a fun, friendly environment with an emphasis on good sportsmanship and clean competitive racing.  Licensed NASA racers compete in the FL Regional race program earning points for each sprint race over the season.  NASA offers some GREAT contingency programs.  Racer  recognition, photos, trophies/awards are part of the fun at the podium ceremony and track social on Saturday.  Year end awards/tophies are presented to qualified points champs in each NASA race series and class at the end of the race season. Qualified regional racers can shoot even higher in their goals by competing against the "Best of the Best" from all NASA Regions at the NASA National Championships each September for outstanding contingency award programs & prizes. NASA FL Racing Rules and information:
Regional races are sanctioned by NASA and rules of the racing program are in accordance with those in the current NASA Club Codes and Regulations  and NASA race series rules. NASA FL regional sprint race series is open to sedans and sport racers in all NASA race series classes. Get more info here!     

NASA LICENSING:
Drivers must be a current member of NASA and hold a current NASA Competition License or NASA Provisional License to compete in the NASA FL race activities. NASA competition licenses are issued per calendar year race season and are valid from January through December regardless of the date of license purchase.  Allow ample license processing time. Licensing details must be completed before arriving at the event.
 
RACE CAR SAFETY EQUIPMENT & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum requirements for race car safety equipment and driver apparel are stated in the current NASA Club Codes and Regulations rule book CCR Section 15.0. Note: Use of a head and neck restraint system or device, carrying a SFI 38.1 certification became mandatory for all NASA racers as of July 2, 2008. References and information can be found in "Appendix D" section 29.0 of the CCR.

A NASA RACE CAR LOGBOOK is issued at the time of the race vehicle's first NASA annual race car tech inspection at an approved NASA FL race tech inspection station. Appointment required. Annual race car tech inspections are due for renewal at the start of each calendar year and are documented in the NASA Race Car Logbook.

AMB timing transponder is required for timing purposes. NASA FL does NOT rent or sell AMB timing transponders. Purchase direct from AMB

NASA FL RACE DAY FORMAT:
Most NASA FL region events are "double" weekend sprint race events. Points are earned for each sprint race/day. The "featured races" on Saturday are followed by a podium ceremony with awards presentation & driver recognition as part of the Saturday track "social". The number of trophies/awards presented for each race class is determined by the number of starters in that race class. Printed timing sheets are available after each timed session.

RACE CAR CLASSING OPTIONS:
NASA FL regional sprint race series is open to all closed wheel NASA RACE SERIES classes.

NASA FL REGIONAL POINTS:
Season points can be accumulated as an individual or as a TEAM.  View Team Declaration Form
All points races are sprint races. Points will be awarded each day for all race starters as explained below.

and then 1 point less for each position beyond 8th. Any Driver completing a minimum of half of the laps covered by the winning car in their class is considered a finisher. All starters that are not considered a finisher will be given half of the last place finisher's points in their class (Partial points to be rounded off to next highest number). Racers must enter a minimum of half of each year's races in their respective class to be eligible for year end rewards in that class. Year end points total will be computed by adding the points from each racer's highest points from 3/4 of the total number of races held during the racing season.  If 3/4 of the number of races results in a total of races other than a whole number, the overage will be dropped. 

CONDUCT EXPECTATIONS:
NASA Florida Region Racing program is intended to be a fun, safe and competitive race venue where driver skill is the most important ingredient for being successful. Good sportsmanship will be valued more than "where" a driver finishes in the race. Clean, well executed passing is required. Punting or leaning into a competitor's car for race position advantage is unacceptable. Metal to metal contact will result in investigation and possible sanctions. Race stewards have the responsibility and authority to monitor over-aggressive driving in practice, qualifying and race sessions and to remove offending driver from the track if said driver is viewed as a threat to the safety of other drivers. Good sportsmanship both on and off the track is required.
